What is BaZi compatibility?
Chart matching (he hun) is the traditional way of weighing two people's charts together: combinations, clashes, harms and punishments between their pillars, plus the generating and controlling cycles between their day masters. This tool makes the process transparent across three layers — the zodiac layer (year-branch harmony or clash), the day-master layer (stem combinations, element dynamics, yin-yang polarity), and an itemized 0-100 score.
Schools disagree on exact weights, but the working consensus is clear: the year branch is the crudest signal (a birth year is shared by hundreds of millions), while the day master describes the core self. The scoring here reflects that — the zodiac layer moves the score by at most 25 points, the day-master layer by up to 37.

Find one sign across the top and the other down the side — the crossing cell is their zodiac-layer relation. This is the coarsest of the layers; hundreds of millions share a birth year, so the real dynamic comes from the full match above.

Note: the zodiac year here turns at Li Chun (the solar term around Feb 4), per the Ziping method — not at Chinese New Year or Jan 1. People born in January or early February may belong to the previous sign under this system.

FAQ
Is zodiac compatibility the same as BaZi compatibility?
No. Zodiac matching only reads the year branch — the coarsest layer, shared by hundreds of millions of people. BaZi (Four Pillars) compatibility also weighs the day masters: their stem combinations, element dynamics and yin-yang polarity, which practitioners consider far more telling. This tool computes both layers and scores them separately.
Can I check compatibility without a birth time?
Yes. The zodiac layer reads the year pillar and the day-master layer reads the day pillar — neither needs the birth hour. With the hour unknown the chart runs in three-pillar mode, clearly labeled; only deeper single-chart analysis (like a full BaZi reading) is affected by a missing hour.
Why does my zodiac sign here differ from other sites?
Chinese astrology turns the year at Li Chun, the solar term around February 4 — not at Chinese New Year and not on January 1. Many popular sites switch signs at Spring Festival, so people born in January or early February can get a different sign under the two systems.
What score counts as a good match — and does a low score doom us?
85+ reads as a heaven-made match, 70-84 harmonious, 55-69 steady, 40-54 needs work, below 40 clashing. The score describes the relationship's starting climate, not its fate — low-scoring couples simply need more awareness and communication skill, and countless "clashing" pairs thrive.
